Getting there
Im Flugzeug sitzend noch der Gedanke. Das kann ja nicht sein. Dass es Amerika bald wirklich gibt. Bisher ist alles irgendwie mythisch, abgesehen von ein paar Touristen auf Reisen und Musikern auf Bühnen, kenn ich alles nur von Bildern und Bildschirmen.
Ich weiss, ich werde durch den Central Park streunen, wo Richard Gere mit Winona Ryder spazieren ging, ich werde den Dampf aus den Gullys quellen sehen, wie Ambulanz-Fahrer Nicolas Cage in „Bringing out the Dead“ ich werde die Ferry nehmen, von der Marc Cohn nachhause kam, als er „Ellis Island“ schrieb, ich werde am Washington Square Park stehen, wo Bob Dylan die Hand von Joan Baez hielt, ein Duzend Jahre bevor sie in „Diamonds and Rust“ sang:
